Therapy for professionals who want to change their relationship with alcohol, cannabis or other habits — without being pushed.
Therapy for professionals in Mountain View, Los Altos, Palo Alto and across California who know something needs to change but aren’t sure they’re ready.
Does this sound familiar?
You’re drinking more than you want to, but you’re not sure you have a “problem”
You’ve tried cutting back on your own and keep slipping back into old patterns
AA or rehab doesn’t feel right for you
Your doctor has told you to change your diet, activity or habits for your diabetes, heart health or blood pressure, and it’s been hard to follow through
You want to change, and part of you also doesn’t
Feeling two ways about change is normal. It’s often where meaningful change starts.
How I help
I use Motivational Interviewing, an evidence-based approach designed for people who feel ambivalent about change. I won’t lecture you, label you or tell you what your goals should be. Together we’ll clarify what matters to you, decide what you want to change, and build a plan that fits your life, whether that’s cutting back, quitting, or changing a habit that’s affecting your health.
Experience you can trust
I’m a licensed clinical psychologist with over 25 years of experience helping people make lasting change. At VA Palo Alto, I provided substance use treatment and care for veterans with chronic medical conditions. I’ve been a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) since 2012 and trained clinicians nationwide for the VA’s Motivational Interviewing initiative.
