Individual Therapy

Individual Therapy

For adults ready to change a habit, or still deciding whether to

Who this is for

I work one-on-one with adults who want to change their relationship with alcohol, cannabis or other substances, or who need to make health changes for conditions like diabetes, heart disease or high blood pressure. You don’t need to be certain you want to quit, or to call admit you have a problem. Many of my clients start out unsure.

What our work looks like

In our first sessions, we’ll talk about what’s going on, what matters to you, and what you’d like to be different. From there, we’ll set goals together and build a plan you can follow, whether that’s cutting back, stopping, or changing a health habit.

Sessions focus on building and keeping your motivation, practicing new strategies, and working through setbacks without judgment. Using Motivational Interviewing along with CBT and mindfulness, I help you make changes that hold up in real life.

Sessions are available by telehealth anywhere in California.

Working with your medical care

With your permission, I coordinate with your physician or psychiatrist so your care works as a team. If you need medically supervised withdrawal, I’ll help connect you with appropriate care, and we can begin or continue outpatient work once you’re medically stable.

Insurance and payment

I work with clients on a private-pay basis. Many people choose this because:

  • Your privacy stays with you. No diagnosis or treatment information is sent to an insurance company unless you decide to submit a claim.

  • Your care is guided by you and me, not by insurance requirements or session limits.

If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, I’ll provide a superbill (a detailed receipt) you can submit for reimbursement. This does share a diagnosis and service information with your insurer, so it’s your choice whether to use it. Call your insurer and ask about “out-of-network outpatient mental health benefits” to see what you’d get back.

Cancellation policy

Please cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours in advance. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed, are charged at the full rate.
